One of the reasons I chose to start writing again, was to find an outlet for otherwise stressful situations. When I was a child, I was bullied pretty much from grade 6 till grade 13. I chose sports and writing poetry as my outlets. Most of the time it worked. The fact that I am able to speak about it now, shows I have come along way in my maturity as a person.
You are probably wondering why I chose to speak about this now and how it relates to Nik Antropov.
When Nik was drafted, the whole world thought it was the worst draft pick in Leafs history. I personally didn’t think so. Fans would always talk badly about poor ol’ Nik and I really wanted him to prove the world wrong. In high school, I was the one that people thought badly of and went out of their way to make me feel small despite my 6 foot 3 inch frame. I definitely think he has proved the world wrong. He is still playing hockey and doing not so badly in my opinion. Despite serious knee problems, he came back, he came strong and continued to play on. The year is now 2012 and he is still in the NHL.
Thanks Nik for striving through the crap and not listening to the naysayers of the world. Thanks for signing my card. I hope to see you play a few more years.
