I watched this movie a few months back and was enthralled with it. During adolescence, I felt the growing pains portrayed by the character Michael. It was as if his character had the key to dredge out memories that I wished I never had. Our stories don’t share any commonalities except the feeling of being on the outside looking in and being very large men. I too wore droopy shirts and baggy pants!
What did this movie remind me of?
It taught me that there is hope. Quite often during the travels of my life, I have come to meet some people who talk about being down on their luck or afraid to make change to better their lives. 5 minutes into their soliloquy, I feel the need to impart a positive message into their psyche. Deep within my heart, I want to motivate them to do what they need to do to make them happier. Maybe I should have listened to my own advice.
I kept the card in my collection because it reminds me that humility and positivity are important.
Dreams can come true if you work at it.
Blog Post Inspiration:
Summary: I picked up this card from a friend of mine who had some football to sell. I paid full price for it because I wanted it. The dollar value didn’t reflect what this card meant to me.
Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Year: 2009 NFL Draft Edition
Attributes: Autograph / Signature card
Card #44
Card Status: Will be kept in my personal collection
Interesting note: The card number in Chinese culture is considered bad luck. Ironic given the luck he has had so far.
